      BIERMAN _ Wilhelmina (Mientje) (nee Alberda) It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Wilhelmina Bierman on February 11, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 4, 1935 in Sneek, Holland. Wilma was predeceased by her parents Willem and Boukje (Barbara) Alberda. Wilma, the eldest of nine children, immigrated with her parents and siblings to Canada in 1954. She leaves behind, her loving husband of fifty years Jan Bierman; and together they raised three children, Bill Bierman (Kelly), Barbie Bierman (Les Mellish) and Margie Schuster (Shane); and eight grandchildren, Christine, Jessica, Jonathan, and Mariann Bierman, Amanda and Bradley Hoerle, Ryan and Meagan Schuster; and two step-grandchildren, Robyn Kandalaft and Rebeka Mellish. Wilma was the matriarch of a large and loving family of over eighty relatives in Alberta and many more in Holland. She also leaves behind eight brothers and sisters, Tammy (Joe) Oetelaar, Rudy (Diane) Alberda, Bill (Phyllis, deceased) Alberda, Jane Myers, Bill Jr. (Carolyn) Alberda, John (Dorothy) Alberda, Albert (Elsie) Alberda, and Ann Alberda (Gary Braun, deceased); and aunt Susan Radsma. A Celebration of Wilma's Life will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at the Ascension Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m., 1432 - 19 Street N.E. Calgary, Alberta. If so desired, memorial donations may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, Calgary and District Unit Office, Second Floor, 215 - 12 Avenue S.E. Calgary, Alberta T2G 1A2.
