Schmieder, BGA and 'edition Breitkopf nr. 3765' all have a 4/4 measure noted as 'common measure'. However, BSG told me that it was clearly wrong. It also is obvious, because there are two cantus notes each measure, two basic harmonies per measure. It is therefore in cut-time (2/2 or 'Alla breve'; 2 beats each measure instead of the 4 beats with a common measure). So I looked it up in a manuscript, which showed that Bach in fact noted this as an 'Alla breve' measure, a cut-time (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e101/gertim511/AllaBreve_zpsmxkpkqvp.png), a 2/2 measure, so I changed it to that. It is a common measure sign with a vertical dash through it (which illustrates 'cut-time').
